My husband said something that surprised me about this recent disaster. His coment, word for word, was: "Good! Less future terrorists to worry about."
I really was shocked by it. I mean, he's the perfect picture of an 'aspiring to be elder' JW.

i had posted a few times since my awakening asking how best to talk to my wife about my new take on things.
i was very afraid of handilng it poorly and chasing her deeper into the organization.
instead, she basically said, 'i've been feeling the same way!
Making it out of the WBTS is quite the journey for a couple.
Find as many things in common as possible. Now that there will be a new set of values and perspectives, get to know one another all over again.

how do you keep them from bothering you?
The smart, faithful JWs already understood that I'm a JW in name only, and only interested in keeping the lines of communication open with my folks.
When I happen to attend the random meeting, I ignore just about everybody else in the congregation, just polite to them as I would be to any unknown person in the street.
Add to that the fact of me being very vocal about stuff that I don't agree with the WBTS. Believe me, they stay clear away from me as most consider me rebellious, borderline apostate.

this is a question for those that believe in a god or gods, particularly those described as "all knowing" or "almighty".. how do you defend to yourself that your god has not in any modern situation saved his people from anything?.
people of all faiths are regularly killed by various natural elements.
of course, if you knew such a thing was going to befall a person and you could do something to protect them, you would.
God's lack of action is infuriating to me.
How can I possibly bring myself to worship a God that has the power to make all human suffering cease and yet chooses to do NOT A GD MFING THING ABOUT IT???!!!

i realize that in the 1990's, the witnesses changed their view on this thought of "earthquakes in one place after another" to be more figurative and not literal.
yet most active witnesses still see them as signs of the end.
i did when i was younger and something occurred to me today as i watched the news from pakistan.. did anyone ever have witnesses that expanded beyond the warning of this natural disaster (earthquakes) to include all natural disasters?

let me start off by saying i dont believe in astrology and most certainly not horoscopes.
having said that, i have often considered the real possibility that the time and season of the year we are born in can dramatically influence our pre-natal development and the resulting personality, i dont think this has anything to do with "stars" or cosmology, but we do know that babies born in certain seasons or months are more prone to certain illnesses, temperaments etc.. i'm an aries and had a really lousy relationship with a "cancer" for many years.
she always pointed out that all of the compatibility charts state that aries and cancers are fundamentally incompatible and it turned out....she was right!!
According to the match of our astrology signs, my husband and I have a very little chance at surviving as man and wife in the long run.
So far, this is not true whatsoever. Doing very well in our relationship thus far.
